BPL

Broadband over Power Lines is the process of using the electrical grid to connect to the internet. This is done with special equipment in the electricity provider’s systems, and a BPL modem that will give data speeds of 50MBPS. This modem will simply have a LAN port for plugging in the router, and an electrical plug to connect to power, and the internet. BPL never had the popularity that I think it should have, but it was an option for some rural communities where telephone was hard to come by, and therefore little to no access via dial-up, or DSL.
