Solid State Drive is a format where memory chips are used instead of the platters that were found in mechanical hard drives. Almost every SSD I seen are 2.5″ and falling out of favor for Solid State Flash which are on NVME sticks, or soldered to the motherboard. With that being said – many computers no longer has a drive bay for an SSD.
