FiOS

Fiber Optic Services. This is the successor to DSL, and provides a fiber optic line from the telephone company’s central office to the residence. When installing Fiber Optic, I would recommend that you terminate as an RJ45. This will allow you to plug in your routers directly into the internet jack on the wall which will carry the signal to the ONT.

FiOS comes in two forms. The first is for internet. As mentioned, you should terminate as RJ45 to use your own router. The next form is cable TV services. This however, will use a coaxial line which will then plug into the box supporting that carrier. You then pay for service including the set top box rental fee.
